Why the address says Great River

The building sits in Great River, just over the line from East Islip, inside the Sunrise Business Center on Sunrise Highway. We say so plainly because a parent driving to a first visit needs the right town in their phone, and because a center that fudges its own address is not off to a good start.

In practice the families here come from all over the Islip townships. East Islip and Islip Terrace are the largest group, with Oakdale, Islip, Bay Shore, Sayville and Bohemia close behind. Sunrise Highway is what makes that work: it is a straight run from most of them, and a drop-off that does not add twenty minutes to a commute is a drop-off that is still bearable in February.

What we actually offer

Four rooms, from six weeks old to the year before kindergarten, all under one license from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. A child can start as a baby and leave for kindergarten without ever changing centers, which is worth more than it sounds when you are the one who would otherwise be doing the changing.
